Las Vegas usually starts it’s convention year with a bang with CES, the Consumer Electronic Show.
As part of this years plan The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority planned to open it’s new West Hall to the 180,000 attendees. CES was expected to have a $300 million impact on the City of Las Vegas. All of this is lost as the new West Wing to the Convention Center sits empty.
CES 2021 will start on Jan. 11 with a completely virtual show. With it going virtual you can attend the world’s largest tech show from the comfort of your home or your office. This could become the new normal.
The economic loss created by the closure of conventions in Las Vegas has been devastating to the local economy. Conventions have been a stabilizing staple for economic growth in Las Vegas. When and if this will return is anybody’s guess.
Many questions remain unanswered, whether CES 2022 will be able. or want to return to Las Vegas. This year, CES 2021 will go virtual starting January 11, 2021. Las Vegas is hopeful CES returns in 2022, but for now. No more lines at the airport or at hotels or walks around the Las Vegas Convention Center and that means bad news for Las Vegas and its economy.
