SIEGFRIED has DIED

SIEGFRIED FISCHBACHER, half of the legendary Las Vegas illusion team SIEGFRIED & ROY, has died from cancer.   SIEGFIELD was a super-star and Las Vegas legend.  SIEGFIELD & ROY opened the Mirage in 1989 with a show one could only see in their dreams.  They brought the show to life 8 times a week with a cast of 57 exotic cats.

Siegfried Fischbacher’s death Wednesday night of pancreatic cancer came just eight months after Roy Horn passed from COVID-19.  It was appropriate that they departed the stage so close together.
Siegfried & Roy’s success as an entertainment team was merely an extension of their shared personal dedication.
In 1988 Steve Wynn signed the act, Siegfried and Roy, to perform in the Mirage new 1500-seat theater. Siegfried and Roy premiered at the Mirage in 1990.

Siegfried and Roy took Las Vegas entertainment in a new direction. The show cost $30 million to produce and included a cast and crew of 267 employees.
Siegfried and Roy started off on a cruise ship doing magic with a cheetah but were two guys that never stopped imaging. Every now and then someone comes along who is going to change things and Siegfried was that guy. Siegfried and Roy was and is the most successful show in Las Vegas history.  Siegfried and Roy will be missed but never forgotten.
