TROPICANA LAYING OFF 800 EMPLOYEES

Tropicana Resort on the Las Vegas Strip
The Tropicana hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip is planning to lay off a total of 828 employees beginning Oct. 15. The Tropicana originally notified the Nevada Department of Employment, Rehabilitation and Training that it had notified 681 employees of the upcoming layoff. On Oct. 12, they sent another letter to DETR about an additional 167 employees.
The layoffs are permanent according to the letter and are an "unfortunate result of COVID-19 related business circumstances that were sudden, dramatic and beyond our control.”
Additionally, two restaurants at Paris Las Vegas are also laying off employees. The Eiffel Tower Restaurant is planning to lay off 53 full-time employees on Dec. 16. The letter says that the restaurant is not expected to close, but the layoff is expected to be permanent.

Mon Ami Gabi is also planning on a mass layoff. They are eliminating 96 full-time employees on Dec. 16. Mon Ami Gabi is also expected to remain open but the layoffs are permanent.
Six other employers, including Allegiant, TAO Nightclub, Marquee Nightclub and Bright Horizons Children’s Center, also notified employees of layoffs earlier this month.
