The Raiders discarded a New England GM and signed a Los Angeles Chargers GM Discard. The Raiders have struggled since being in Las Vegas the only notable improvement being in the team value. The Raiders team value since moving to Las Vegas has increased over $2.billion.
Davis fired the GM during the 2023 season and replaced him with a rookie GM. Apparently not wanting both a Rookie Coach, Antonio Pierce, and Rookie GM, Davis opted for experience.
What was a surprise, was the choice, the Raiders filled the void at General Manager with Tom Telesco. Telesco was the GM of the Chargers from 2013 to 2023. During that time period, the Chargers compiled a 79-83-0 record. Telesco left the Chargers, after a 5-12 season, with major gaps in personnel, and a payroll that exceeds the league salary cap. In other words, Telesco left the Chargers a total mess. The Chargers 63-14 late season loss to the Raiders was the most lopsided win in Raider history. Philip Rivers was the Chargers starting quarterback when Telesco took over in San Diego. Telesco doesn’t have a long track record of drafting quarterbacks which is the Raiders number one need to make the playoffs. Telesco's final season with the Chargers was an absolute disaster with Game 15, being the highlight, a 63 - 14 loss to the Raiders by the Chargers. The Chargers 2023 record of W- 5 - L - 12 was one of the worst in the NFL 2023 Season.
The Raiders 2024 Draft conducted by Telesco failed to produce a much-needed quarterback. The Raiders Draft based on need receives a "C-" Grade. When I look at the Raiders recently released 2024 Schedule I predict them starting 1-1 or 0-2.
The Raiders have a strong Defense, led by Maxx Crosby, and may have added some additional depth to the Defense as a result of the Draft. The Defense will keep the Raiders a lot of games and probably win a couple. They have a Great Coach in Antonio Pierce. The problem is an Offense without RB Josh Jacobs and a Championship QB. ...........As a result I predict an 8-9 or 7-10 season for the Raiders.
