This might be a great time to visit Hoover Dam. While I've referred to Hoover Dam, Nevada it straddles the state lines of Nevada and Arizona. Miraculously, this concrete piece of architecture and design that stretches over the Colorado River was built during the Great Depression thanks to much blood, sweat, tears and money – it cost $165 million at the time, around $2.6 billion today. Although it's named after President J. Edgar Hoover, it was initially dedicated to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Hoover Dam is a short 30 minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip. Guided bus tours to the Grand Canyon will cross the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge, and may include photo stops. Aerial Grand Canyon tours soar over the Dam, offering some of the most impressive views of this famous structure. Currently there are no Guided Tours of the Dam. You tour the Dam at your own pace.
